Over the past five years, we’ve welcomed many new golfers—men, women, families, and juniors—some brand-new to the game and others returning after time away. The energy around golf is incredible, and we want it to continue for years to come.
As our community grows, it’s important that everyone knows what’s expected in the clubhouse, on the course, and at the practice areas. These etiquette tips give both new and seasoned players a quick way to ask, “Am I meeting expectations?” Questions or suggestions? Email This email address is being protected from spambots. Never Hit Into the Group Ahead
- If there is any chance your shot could reach the group in front, wait. Do not play until it is unquestionably clear.
- Shout “Fore!” immediately on any errant shot toward another group.
- Patience prevents injuries. No round is worth risking someone’s safety.
It’s not just etiquette—it’s safety. Thank you for protecting fellow golfers.
Pace & Courtesy
Pace of Play Tips
- Target times at Hillcrest: 2:05 for 9 holes and 4:15 for 18 holes.
- Ready golf: if you’re prepared and it’s safe, hit—even if you’re not “away.”
- Read your putt while others are putting (from a respectful distance). Place your ball and be ready when it’s your turn.
Stay near the group ahead; invite faster groups to play through when a hole opens.
Cart Etiquette
Use of Golf Carts
- Make your cart “invisible.” Leave no trace—avoid wet/tender turf and spread traffic (don’t caravan).
- Paths are always OK. Follow signs/ropes/arrows; avoid areas marked “ground under repair.”
- Never drive on tees, greens, collars, or close to water hazards. Respect the cart equipment—no off-roading.
Music on the Golf Course
Music can add to a casual round when used thoughtfully. For championships and formal competitions, please keep speakers off.
- Keep volume low enough that only your group can hear it; use headphones near tees and greens.
- Ask your group before playing music; if anyone prefers quiet, please turn it off.
- No speakers during tournaments, club championships, or whenever staff requests quiet.
Pride in the Game. Pride in Hillcrest.
Every repaired mark, thoughtful cart route, and courteous moment keeps Hillcrest exceptional. Thank you for doing your part.
